time for a
second life

Having emigrated from southern Italy as a child, Salvatore grows up in 1970s Paris, surrounded by his mother Giulia and sister Chiara. Alongside Piero, his brother in spirit, he explores Pigalle’s nightlife, falls in love in the Latin Quarter, and learns the art of fashion from his uncle Luigi and aunt Sofia, whose boutique thrives. Salvatore’s journey doesn’t end there—he joins the Jean Paul Gaultier adventure, traveling from Paris to New York and Tokyo, until an unexpected revelation changes everything.

In 1980s Paris, the heart of global fashion, extravagance reigns, and Salvatore encounters both love and death. He navigates life's excesses, a silence shielding him from chaos. His journey, from immigrant roots to Parisian glamour, is one of resilience in the face of loss, disappointment, and illness.

The Time of a Second Life captures the transformative power of trials and the hope that comes with renewal.

Inspiration behind the novel

It only took one special encounter to captivate me. This person's story immediately drew me in. When I asked if I could use his life as inspiration, he said, “Yes, but create your own epic and your own characters.” He was right. Salvatore and his tribeswoman pulled me into their world, leaving me breathless. It wasn’t until the manuscript was finished that I realized the purpose of this novel—to write for everyone and transport my readers into a timeless moment.
